Heading to Nettles Island Jan 8, 2012

We have about 30 miles to get to Nettles Island. The St. Lucie Inlet is the trickiest to get through. The ICW goes left and right, the river drains here and plus there is the Inlet.  The sand bottom has shifted around quite a bit and they have had to move the markers around quite a bit.  Many boats have been grounded and or hit bottom.  We do not want to do this.  We want to do this on high tide.  The fishing boats are racing around us.

We got to the Inlet and turned North on the ICW. We have two fixed bridges to go under, they are 65 feet tall and our mast is 55ft.  The ICW may look wide but there is a channel that you need to stay inside.  They do dredge this channel and put the spoils aside.  On low tide you can actually see birds walking around and or dogs going for a run.  It really is a site to see.

We are now at the marina and will continue to get the To Do List Complete and get No Keys ready to head out at the end of the month!
